Baby Quilt
Over the course of four 2-hour classes (with homework weekly) you will make a 45” square baby quilt. This is a beginner level class, but you need to already have basic sewing skills, specifically how to use a sewing machine. The quilt pattern is a simple tied split rail fence. This quilt looks good in solids, but if you want to do it in prints, that's cool too.
Four 2 ½ - hour sessions. Fee: $100
Tools and materials needed (Available at Stitches):
Cotton fabric for quilting -- color A 1 yd, B 3/4 yd, C 1/2 yard
Buy an additonal 1.33 yd for backing
Quilt batting -- these come in different fibers and thicknesses. Since we are tying rather than quilting, I recommend either the thick wool batting, or the thick polyfill type. You will need 1.33 yd.
Embroidery floss for tying -- color A & B one skein each, two of color C
Scissors
Quilting Pins
18" to 24" ruler
Chalk or Fabric Pen
Thread to match your project
Marking tool (chalk liner, fabric pen, etc)
IT'S OPTIMAL TO HAVE A ROTARY CUTTER for this project. If you have a cutting mat, bring that as well. We will have one or two mats to share.
